We are active people who enjoy being outdoors as much as possible. I had two dogs prior to Chris and I even dating, so I brought them into our family first. Lexie is a 4 year old Yorkie and Levi is a 4 year old Chihuahua. Then we decided to get a coonhound and 1 turned into 4 rather quickly. He have Hope who is the oldest, and her daughter Daisy and her daughter Sage, then we have Lily :) Hope, Daisy and Lily are all Walker coonhounds if you are curious. Lily is my hound who I have tried to train together with Chris. He handles Hope and Daisy pretty well on his own. Hope doesn't need training she is pretty good on her own she just gets a little rusty when she doesn't get hunted for a while. Sage is out of one of the accidental litters we had so we decided she was a good inside/outside dog. She happens to be a cross of a Walker and and English/redtick. Sage also just got back from being spayed today. Anyway, last but not least is Bailee. She is our inside dog who sleeps in bed with us at night and is a spoiled pooch. She is an English setter mixed with coonhound. So if you counted that would be 7 dogs, 3 inside at dogs and 3 outside and 1 outside/inside. We also have 1 fish and an algae eater.
Our newest adventure that we started this weekend was hatching some chicken eggs. Last summer we had bought a flock from someone and so we had roughly 30 chickens. We had bought some of our own from TSC when they had their chick days and we had about 4 of them that made it to adulthood. We also adopted some chickens from my in-laws since they no longer wanted them. However, we decided to let them free range for a while and that did not end well. We currently have 2 hens and last weekend we brought home Phoenix, our new rooster. This weekend we went online and bought some eggs to try and hatch and today we received 18 eggs, even though the post said 8, and only one had cracked so we have a total of 17 eggs to put into the incubator tonight. They suggest waiting 12 to 24 after they are received to put into the incubator to let them settle down but we are thinking that since they only had to travel a little ways and they weren't in the boxes for very long that we would put them in tonight. We will know in about seven days if the eggs are fertile, we will hold up a light and see if anything is growing. Then in about two more weeks we should have little chicks. We then will proceed to put them into a pen with a heat lamp, food, and water.
